Two Best Practices from the IIPRC Review Team

9/29/2016

In this week’s Weekly Tip, we will reinforce best practices that can improve all filing submissions. The following two pointers from the IIPRC Review Team will help make your filing experience more efficient and cost effective.

First, should you be employing the Mix and Match filing process, please include only state-approved product components on the Statement of Intent (SOI) schedule in the product filing. Remember that the STATEment of Intent is for STATE forms. If there are Compact-approved product components that will be used with the new forms, please associate the forms by using the “Associated Filings” feature in the product filing submission. An objection will be issued if there are Compact forms provided on the SOI Schedule, and the references to forms using the ICC prefix will need to be removed from the SOI.

Second, the form numbers must be consistent between the numbers reflected on the forms themselves, and the numbers recorded in the “Form Number” column on the Form Schedule tab within the product filing submission. The integrity of this data is critical to the ability to search by form number within SERFF. The search function uses the form number recorded in the “Form Number” column on the Form Schedule Tab. The form number (including spaces) on the form must match exactly the number reflected in the “Form Number” column on the Form Schedule tab. If the numbers do not match, an objection will be issued requesting that the numbering be revised. This aspect of a filing is simple, yet frequently overlooked. Please be sure to double-check your form numbering before submitting a filing.
